My Cover Letter

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my interest in a School Counselor position in your district. With my academic qualifications, extensive experience as a school counseling intern, and a background in education, I am excited to contribute my skills and dedication to support students in your district.

I am pursuing my master’s in school counseling, and am on track to complete my program and receive my Pupil Personnel Service Credential with a Child Welfare and Attendance authorization in April 2024. I am currently gaining experience in school counseling through internships in middle school and elementary school. This hands-on experience implementing a comprehensive school counseling program has allowed me to engage in a range of essential responsibilities including individual and group counseling, classroom presentations, working with diverse populations, counseling programming, and collaboration and consultation with teachers and administration.

My experience as a dance educator for the past 20 years, teaching dance classes to students in public schools, has allowed me to incorporate social-emotional learning concepts into my teaching. I believe that I build strong rapport with students because I genuinely care about their growth and development. I am known for being an active listener and a dedicated professional, qualities that I am eager to bring to a school counseling role.

I look forward to the possibility of discussing how I can contribute to your school’s commitment to student achievement and personal growth.

Sincerely,

Genoa Sperske
